Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pipper (“Pipper,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Pipper mobile app, the Pipper Apple TV app, the Pipper admin and display websites, and pip-per.com (together, the “Service”).
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run a gender-reveal experience across a phone and a TV.
Information you provide
- Account details. If you create a host account in the admin, we collect your email address and a password (handled by our authentication system; we never see your password in plain text).
- Reveal content. The quizzes, questions, titles, themes, settings, and any images you upload to use in your reveal.
- Guest invitations. If you invite a guest, the email address you enter so we can send them a pairing link.
- Payment details. When you buy a paid add-on, payment is processed by our third-party payment processor, which collects and handles your card information directly — we do not receive or store full card numbers. We store only a record that an add-on was unlocked and when.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & analytics. We use a product-analytics system (hosted in the United States) to understand how the Service is used — for example pages and screens viewed, taps and clicks, events such as pairing a TV or showing a reveal, device and browser type, and an anonymous identifier. The analytics system may infer an approximate, city-level location from your IP address; we do not collect precise GPS location.
- Session recordings. On our websites and the mobile app we use a session-replay system to record a playback of on-screen interactions (such as taps, clicks, and navigation) to help us diagnose issues and improve usability. Text input fields are masked by default, and we suppress recording of fields that show personal details such as guest email addresses. We do not record the public TV display.
- Technical & log data. Standard information such as IP address, device/OS, and timestamps, generated when your apps connect to our backend systems and hosting.
- Pairing data. Short-lived codes and session identifiers that let a phone and a TV connect to the same reveal in real time.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Service — host quizzes, sync the phone and TV, and run the reveal.
- To send guest invitation emails you request.
- To process purchases of paid add-ons and maintain your entitlements.
- To secure the Service, prevent abuse, and debug problems.
- To understand and improve how the Service is used (analytics).
- To communicate with you about your account or support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your reveal content for advertising.
3. Camera & photos
The Pipper mobile app asks for camera access so the host can scan the answer QR codes during a reveal. Scanning happens on your device — we do not record, upload, or store camera video, and we only read the QR code’s contents. Separately, if you choose to add a photo to a question or reveal, that image is uploaded to and stored in our storage system so it can be shown on the TV.
4. How we share information & service providers
We share information only with the service providers (sub-processors) that help us run the Service, and where required by law. These providers process data on our behalf:
| Service provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cloud platform provider | Accounts, real-time database, image storage, backend, and website hosting |
| Payment processor | Payment processing for paid add-ons |
| Email delivery provider | Sending guest invitation and receipt emails |
| Product-analytics provider (US-hosted) | Usage analytics and session replay |
Our websites also load resources from content-delivery networks, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those files. We may also disclose information if required to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights and safety of users, and we may transfer information as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
5. Data retention
We keep account and reveal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Pairing codes and session data are short-lived. You can ask us to delete your account and associated content (see “Your rights”). Some records (for example payment records) may be retained as required for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.
6. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the EEA/UK, our legal bases for processing are performance of our contract with you, your consent (for example, analytics), and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service. If you are a California resident, we do not sell or “share” your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@pip-per.com. We will respond as required by applicable law.
7. Children
The Service is intended for adults planning and hosting an event and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use reputable infrastructure providers and reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International data transfers
We and our providers are based in or use infrastructure in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries with different data-protection laws.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes may be highlighted in the Service. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
